Introduction and Pretreatment of Nickel Foam

2024-06-28

Nickel foamis an excellent sound-absorbing material with a high absorption coefficient at high frequencies; its sound-absorbing performance at low frequencies can be improved by the design of the sound-absorbing structure. Nickel Foam is also one of the best electrode materials forcadmium-nickel batteries and hydrogen-nickel batteries. Nickel foam itself has many excellent characteristics. Not only its own specific gravity is very low, but also its specific surface area is very small; its own mass is ultra-light, which has a very wide range of application fields and application prospects. Before use, it must be pre-treated. Only by pre-treating the metal can it effectively improve its own energy efficiency.

Nickel foam pretreatment: Nickel foam is cut to the desired size of the sample and impregnated in a 3.0 mol/L HCl solution for 20 minutes to remove the oxide layer on its surface. Subsequently, the nickel foam was removed, rinsed repeatedly with anhydrous ethanol and ultrapure water, dried naturally, and then impregnated in anhydrous ethanol and set aside. When the electrolyte is acidic, the nickel foam must not be used as a substrate.
