Nickel Foam is produced by electroplating a special polymer material framework with a three-dimensional network structure, such as polyurethane, polyester, polyurethane, and other special polymer materials (sponges). After electroplating, the internal polymer material is burned off, and the metal oxide is reduced, ultimately producing a metal foam product, which is then mechanically shaped through chemical heat treatment.
Nickel foam possesses lightweight electrical conductivity, making it a key component of AEM hydrogen electrolyzers and providing an ideal solution for efficient and sustainable hydrogen production.
Working Principle
In the AEM hydrogen production reaction, nickel foam is used as the material for the porous transport layer (PTL) in the electrolyzer, which affects the efficiency and stability of the entire electrolysis system.
Nickel acts as a good electrical conductor, ensuring the transfer of electrons through the pores in the reaction environment. The three-dimensional structure of nickel foam provides good support for the reaction environment, helping to maintain the stability and structural strength of the electrodes. Simultaneously, the porous structure of nickel foam provides a large active surface area, thereby increasing the reaction rate.

Electrochemical Engineering: Applied to AEM electrolysis for hydrogen production, electrocatalysis processes, and electrochemical metallurgy. Foamed nickel-carbon composite electrode materials are also ideal for lithium-ion batteries.
